James Skrypec is your Director of Instruction at Deer Ridge Golf Club. James has been teaching golf for over 10 years at some notable properties such as; Olde Florida Golf Club, Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club, The National Golf Club of Canada, Castle Stuart Golf Links and now settled at Deer Ridge Golf Club.

James is dedicated to ongoing education through global teaching summits and certifications. He is a PGA of Canada Head Teaching Professional, and has been nominated for three consecutive years as Instructor of the Year by PGA of Ontario. As the Director of Instruction at Deer Ridge Golf Academy, James has access to both an indoor and outdoor state-of-the-art facility with technologies including TrackMan 4, HackMotion and OnForm video analysis.

The Academy at Deer Ridge’s Competitive Junior program is James’ personal favourite at the club. This year it will comprise of 12 young adults aged 10-18 who have taken to the competitive side of golf. This group is encouraged to play in local, provincial and national junior golf tournaments. This program runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings in July and August from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with James. Thanks to the generosity of our membership you will see these kids with matching golf bags and shirts that have been donated to the program.

This summer will mark the 9th year the Kids Camps program will be running. It has seen over 100 faces, introducing young people between the ages of 5 and 12 to the game of golf. These camps are for young people with beginner and intermediate skill sets, looking to have fun playing golf. Assistant Teaching Professional, Riley Henry, heads this program up which runs every Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 am every week in July and August.
